Jodi was my youngest daughter’s teacher during a very difficult year of transition for my family. We have four children and have been in multiple schools in multiple countries over the last decade, and I can confidently say that Jodi was the most profoundly influential educator we have ever worked with. Our whole family grew through our experience with her and she is sorely missed in our lives. I would recommend her unconditionally for any role in which human beings are involved... she is one of a kind.

I have known Jodi Wert as a friend, colleague, and as the teacher of my son at Singapore American School. The 2016 - 2017 school year was the first for him as a three-year-old. She embraced him and fostered his unique learning pathway by exploring his interests, creating truly authentic learning moments showcasing individual and collective learning, and documenting learning in a way that allowed my family to recreate experiences for my son at home, further reinforcing his learning, and ours.

It should be noted that our son has speech, sensory, and gross motor planning needs and may be mild to moderately autistic (pre-diagnosis). Yet, Jodi did a masterful job of creating a safe, positive and wholly inclusive classroom environment that increased our son’s capacity and agency.

I will always look back on my son’s time with Jodi and know that his life was positively changed forever.

In the 2016-2017 school year, Jodi joined a cohort of her peers at Singapore American School in a professional development opportunity called Strengths Communicator Training hosted by Leadership Vision. Their charge was to stir a community conversation about what is best in people, to be conversant in the language of strengths and conduct life giving interactions to help people thrive. Jodi presented with acute emotional intelligence and integrated the Strengths based practices into her professional work with the families, young children and colleagues. Her insights and best practices positively shaped our program and delivery.

Jodi consulted with our teaching staff, as an excellent Senior Pedagogist. She helped teachers learn to develop projects based on the natural interests of the children, and to use documentation to enhance adult understanding of the children’s research. Jodi’s kind and caring approach with children and adults makes her a great joy to work with. She has a very gentle and approachable demeanor, and helps lead people to find knowledge rather than giving it to them. Jodi has helped to make our teachers’ work more intentional for each individual child in each group.

From the very first day Jodi started working at Satori, she connected instantly with the children. Her insight into what they need, her soft spoken voice and kind approach have a calming effect on them. The way she engages students allows them to grow both emotionally and intellectually. Her exceptional EQ and love of learning allow her to move with ease and proficiency among age groups and content. She is truly present to the people, environments, and possibilities at hand. Jodi’s attunement to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and positive energy for a variety of tasks make her a quick study and a reliable colleague. She has excellent written and oral communication skills, and employs them thoughtfully to provide clarity and visibility to shared goals. She practices a non-ego approach to teaching, holds the highest belief in people’s potential, and models our school’s exit outcome that we are all lifelong learners.

Jodi and I worked together as teachers in the Early Learning Center at Singapore American School. Jodi was in Preschool, and I was in Pre-Kindergarten. We were part of a larger team developing the new learning center, including designing hub-style learning spaces, developing teaching philosophy, and creating student documentation. Jodi's passion and care for empowering children is simply unsurpassed. In a fast-paced environment, with multiple objectives and deadlines, Jodi was always able to slow down, and take time to respect, honour, and nurture young children. In large faculty meetings, where the discussions would go in many directions, Jodi's voice always seemed to turn our discussion back to the rights of the children. Her deep sense of honour and duty to the children often put our discussions back into perspective. Jodi's participation in team meetings often made educators pause and reflect on their own assumptions, prejudices, and limitations.

Jodi has a unique capacity to see past behaviors and roles, and engage with the hearts of the people and horses she encounters. Her clear communication style, and grounded, steady presence invite others to show up authentically with her. She is brilliant with young children, experiencing them as full people, and advocating for them in a way that helps others shift their frame of reference. She is a delight, and it’s a joy to work with her on the Equine Trainer Team to prepare horses for relationship with children.
